Bali Indonesia known for being a retreat for the free spirits, the hippies, and those wanting to have an Eat, Love, Pray moment. It is also home to some of the most amazing scenery in the world. From epic beaches, to active volcanoes and gorgeous rice fields. Tegalalang is one of the most famous rice fields in Bali and for good reason! Standing at the top of the rice field you can’t but help but be mesmerized by its beauty. If you are in Bali this needs to be on your must do list.
How to get there
The rice fields are located in Tegalalang which is a small town 25 minutes outside of Ubud. If you are staying in Ubud its very easy to get to. Depending on the street your accommodations on, you just need to get to Jl. Raya Tegallalang. You will take that all the way there, and it will be on your right hand side and is very hard to miss. If you are staying in Denpasar or anywhere near Canguu, it is about a 1 1/2 drive to get there. The best way to get around Bali is of course motorbike, but if you are not comfortable with that you can rent a driver for the day.
Best time to go
With most tourist destinations the best time to always go is first light. I HIGHLY recommend you get there at 7:00am. Not only will you beat the crowds but you will beat the heat. Bali can be unbearably hot during the day plus humid, so don’t ruin your visit by visiting at the wrong time. By arriving early you can guarantee your self great views and not having to fight through a mass amount of other people.
What to wear
The best clothing to wear is anything loose and that doesn’t drag. The rice field is quite muddy and you don’t want anything that can drag all over the ground. For colors anything bright that will compliment green, such as orange, yellow, white or blue. For pictures you want something that will POP and prints are also a great choice. Many women will were flowy dresses or skirts and those photography very nicely. For shoes make sure you have something flat and with a grip. When walking up and down the fields you can very easily slip and no wants to end up face down in the rice field, definite day ruiner.
What to Expect
The Tegalalang Rice Fields are truly every thing they live up to. Its so serene to walk through the fields and just take in the amazing scenery. Views from the top are a must because you can see the whole fields laid out in front of you. However don’t miss the opportunity to venture down there is a cute bridge that you can walk across and you can walk to the other side.
You only need about 30 minutes to see the fields but if your taking photos or if your flying a drone then it can take longer. Once you are done exploring the fields make sure you go see the Love Bali Swing. Its located near the Rice Terrace Cafe. Its postcard cute and definitely something you want to experience.
Whether you are going for a photo opt, a peaceful moment or just to see what all the talk is about you won’t be disappointed.
Keep a wandering spirit my friends and thanks for following along!
